Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how the 9GAG Customizer Chrome extension ("Extension", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. No Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, transmit, store on external servers, or share any personal information or browsing data. We have no servers, no databases, and no analytics. No information ever leaves your device.
2. Local Storage
The Extension uses Chrome's built-in storage API solely to save your feature preferences (e.g. whether "Block ADs" or "Show Down Votes" is enabled). This data:
- is stored locally in your browser profile,
- never leaves your device,
- is limited to on/off toggle states with no personally identifiable information.
You can clear this data at any time by removing the Extension from Chrome.
3. Permissions Used
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- scripting — used to modify the appearance and behavior of 9gag.com pages locally in your browser (e.g. hiding ads, showing down-vote counters). No page content is sent anywhere.
- storage — used to persist your feature toggle preferences across browser sessions, as described above.
4. Third-Party Services
The Extension does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
5. Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be published at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
6. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can open an issue on the project's GitHub repository.
